| past rantings - $tarbucks is not my cup of tea...er coffee | ||

Not that I was particularly fond of $tarbucks to begin with, but who is? Wait...I take that back. There are obviously a lot of people - a hell of a lot of people - who are smitten with this wolf in sheep's clothing. I will buy coffee at $tarbucks (though usually just at LAX where I have no choice), but I know countless people who shun anything big-business like Starbucks - and shun $tarbucks in particular. I am way too lazy to do campaigning of any sort so I don't consciuosly avoid Starbucks or tell other people to, but it feels like that's exactly what I'm doing now! What did it take to make me feel this way all of a sudden? It was when I saw Frappuchino at Target. I will admit that I love Target, which shows exactly how lazy I am and how loose my morals about supporting little businesses really are, but when I saw Frappacchino at Target things started coming together. No...that's a lie. When I saw that it was $1.99 or something ridiculous like that for four of the cutely colored bottles I just couldn't resist. I know I'm not the only person who goes into Target just to get toothpaste, but can't leave without spending at least thirty bucks. I sound like one of those stupid stupid AM/PM commericials! So I get home with all my spoils...hair scrunchies, cheddar cheese goldfish, candles, dog bones, Frappacchino...and the toothpaste. I decided to try on the the Frappacchinos right away (yes, I realize I've been misspelling it all along, but so what! I did try to spell-check it in Word, figuring it would be in the dictionary, proving Bill Gates is raking in some of the mocha money somehow, but that's yet to be proven). So I take a big gulp and......it tasted just like Yoo-Hoo! How disgusting is that? I don't think Yoo-Hoo is disgusting and I thought it was kind of cute that Chandler was drinking one on a Friends episode I saw a while back (yeah, yeah, yeah...I know all the Friends freaks are pointing out that it wasn't really Yoo-Hoo, it was just Yooh, but the meaning was clear enough). How obvious is it that Yoo-Hoo has already been invented! What is Starbucks going to do next? Re-release Chia Pets and call them Caffe Pets? (And I want credit if they use that idea!!!) Hey it only took me a little over a month to do the update! That is definitely a first. I'm can't promise it will happen again any time soon, but I am going to aim for monthlies from now on. Heck, I didn't even change my calendar to May until May 25th! (And that's pretty good for me). So now it's June and I don't feel right flipping it off of May already. And this time it's not because I'm being forgetful. I've thought about at least three times (so this is four right now), but I think I'll let May stay on display until at least the 15th...it's just not fair otherwise. 6/6/97 |
